1. U14s are Tier II Gold Medal Champs! The U14 VKMLA Barbarians won the Tier II Field Lacrosse
Provincial Championships held this past weekend in Victoria with a tense, 8-7 sudden-death overtime win over perennial powerhouse New Westminster. Also, Kurtis Shum was awarded the Warrior Fair Play Award for Vancouver.
Congratulations to all the players and to coaches John Robbie, Rob Pearsall and Michael O'Connor.
2. Box season underway - Please remember to observe the Fair Play Code. There have been
a few incidents with parent spectators interfering with game officals and players, particularly at the Kitsilano facility where there is no barrier between spectators and the
penalty box area. Such interference by spectators is strictly forbidden. Please remind yourself of the VKMLA Fair Play Code and the BCLA Fair Play Code. Watching games by the rules is as important as
playing the game by the rules.
3. 2012 Box registration now OPEN! Online registration for the
2012 box lacrosse season with VKMLA is now open. Please click on the "Register Now!" link on the right. Please note that new Mini-Tyke and Midget registrants will be placed on a waitlist as of March 21.

6. OPEN ADMINISTRATIVE POSITIONS The VKMLA is in need of an Information Coordinator (aka Website Administrator), Bingo Coordinator (needed as of May 2012 - training available). The work for these positions is not onerous - most is conducted by e-mail.

VKMLA
The Vancouver-Killarney Minor Lacrosse Association (VKMLA) is the governing body responsible for administering Canada's National Summer Sport for youth aged five to sixteen throughout Vancouver. It is a small association with just over 200 players both in box and field lacrosse. The VKMLA is committed to enhance the growth and development of the sport of lacrosse,
and the Association provides guidance, direction, and stability to its members through strong, proactive, and ethical leadership. Our mission is to: (i) develop the game of lacrosse in Vancouver in a sustainable manner while preserving the heritage and integrity of the sport, and (ii) promote and practice the Fair Play Codes throughout the Association for players, coaches, referees, volunteers, and spectators. The VKMLA oversees youth box lacrosse (March - July), youth field lacrosse (August - March), and female-only box lacrosse.
Vancouver Senior Lacrosse (VSL) is the governing body responsible for administering lacrosse in the Intermediate (under 18), Junior (under 21), and Senior (no age limit) box lacrosse leagues.
