The Sid Dann Memorial Tournament

Each year in May, the Vancouver Minor Lacrosse Association hosts the Sid Dann Memorial Tournament. This is a PeeWee box lacrosse tournament.

Sid Dann was an outstanding goalie and coach within our association for many years. He tragically passed away in a car accident in 1989. He was only 21 years old. Ever since, our annual tournament, and goaltender of the year award, is named in his honor.

Born February 12, 1968
Died October 1, 1989

Sid was an avid lacrosse player from Tyke through Junior A. He developed into a national level goalie. Additionally Sid contributed to lacrosse as referee and coached younger kids too. While so immersed in lacrosse, Sid would say of his involvement in developing young lacrosse players, "There is no one else to take their games and if I don't help, the younger kids probably wouldn't be playing".
Sadly, Sid was suddenly killed in a car accident while still in Junior A with (Vancouver) Killarney Lacrosse.

In honor of the spirit and enthusiasm of Sid Dann, the Vancouver Minor Lacrosse Association commemorates this annual tournament for Peewee A2 and C level teams. This is the reason we celebrate the Sid Dann Tournament, we will endeavor to keep Sid's memory alive and I encourage all Vancouver players, parents, coaches to do the same."

For further information about this tournament, please contact our Sid Dann Memorial Tournament chair at president@vancouverlacrosse.com

The VMLA would like to thank all participants and volunteers that help make this a great PeeWee tournament. Fun is always had by all!  Thank you.
