2026 Season Kick-off: Growth, Dates, and Burrards Pride! |
It’s going to be a big year! For the second year in a row, our association has seen over 20% growth. With nearly 80 new registrants in just two years, we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to establish more structure and organization. All age groups have been locked in for tiering, and evaluations for our competitive divisions are either complete or nearly finished. With the league season starting in early April, the battles begin—and Burrard’s pride is ready to rock!
Upcoming Key Dates & Scheduling
- March 12: BCLA Tournaments open for viewing.
- March 28/29: U7 Division first practices begin (check RAMP for times) - Note: All other age groups have their times scheduled or have already begun.
- March 30: BCLA Tournament registration opens.
- April 12: 11am - Welcome BBQ & Gear Swap @ South Memorial Box
- Includes: BBQ, Gear Swap, Merch
- Venue may change to Killarney if weather is poor – Further communication to follow.
- Wear your gear! Show off that Vancouver Burrards pride!
- April 14: Official indoor floor time begins at Killarney and Kitsilano.
- April 30-May 3: VMLA's Sid Dann U13 tournament - All parents are expected to support this tournament. Sign-ups for roles/timeslots are forthcoming.
- May 23: Photo day - Further details to be provided as they are finalized.
Note on RAMP: U9 practices are being scheduled now. All U11+ teams have begun pre-season "rust-off" sessions. Please keep your notifications on as managers add specific times.
Try Lacrosse: Bring a Friend!
Help us keep the momentum going! We are hosting free Try Lacrosse sessions and encourage you to invite friends. We have a special interest in recruiting players for the U13 and U15 age groups (birth years 2012–2015).

We encourage ALL COACHES to hold a bring a friend day at one of your upcoming practices. Players/Parents - Please request this of your coaches and managers!
Team Updates & Evaluations
Evaluations for U11 and above are either underway or complete. Coaches are working hard to finalize rosters over the next few weeks.
Apparel & Gear:
- Player Uniform Bags: Team staff will distribute player gear bags when they arrive, expected mid-April (Shorts, Dry-fit shirts)
- Coach bags & Jerseys: We are finalizing a coach bag pick-up date for Coaches/Managers; stay tuned for direct communication to Team staff.
Merchandise Orders
For those who placed orders through our VMLA online store before it closed on March 1st, we are expecting delivery of orders in mid-April. We will provide updates on distribution logistics once the shipment arrives!
This includes the Vancouver Burrards branded Gear Bags and the Vancouver Burrards clothing.
When do we play inside the Arenas?
We know everyone is eager to get indoors! Here is why our season starts mid-April:
- Limited Facilities: Vancouver only removes ice at two arenas (Kits and Killarney) for our use.
- Maintenance: Due to aging facilities under repair, our previous 3rd floor option at trout lake is no longer available.
- Allocation: The Parks Board allocates 70% of usage to City associations (vs. 80% in other cities). We and other association user groups are in regular contact with them to improve this.
- We expect all teams to have arena time scheduled by April 12th

Volunteers Needed
With our massive growth, we urgently need to fill two key roles:
- Secretary: A Board-level position to help keep our association running smoothly.
- Director of Goalies: We need a dedicated lead to train and mentor our goaltenders, keep an eye out for goalie gear requiring replacing and coordinating external special guest goalie coaches for all age groups.
