About VMLA

About the VMLA

The Vancouver Minor Lacrosse Association (VMLA) is the governing body responsible for administering Canada’s national summer sport for youth aged 5 to 16 throughout Vancouver.

VMLA oversees:

  • Youth Box Lacrosse: March – July
  • Youth Field Lacrosse: August – March
  • Female-Only Box Lacrosse: March – July

Our Catchment Area

VMLA serves players residing:

  • West of Boundary Road between Vancouver and Burnaby
  • North from the Burrard Inlet to the Fraser River
  • West to Georgia Strait and areas north of the Fraser River and south of the Burrard Inlet
  • University Endowment Lands

Residency rules are guided by the Lower Mainland Minor Lacrosse Association and the Pacific Coast Field Lacrosse League. Exceptions can sometimes be made — please contact the VMLA President for details.

Our Motto: Effort and Attitude

Effort: Give your best every time - at practice, in games, and on the floor. Hard work is something you control, and it always matters.

Attitude: Be a great teammate, stay positive, and approach every challenge with respect and sportsmanship.

Why it matters: When we focus on effort and attitude, we grow as players, teammates, and as a lacrosse community. Winning is great, but showing up with heart and respect is what truly counts.

Mission and Vision

  1. Develop the game of lacrosse in Vancouver in a sustainable manner while preserving the heritage and integrity of the sport

Our Vision

Our vision is to:

  1. Raise awareness of lacrosse in Vancouver and make it accessible to everyone.
  2. Provide opportunities for everyone to get involved – whether you’re a high-level player, just starting out, or interested in coaching, refereeing, or volunteering.
  3. Encourage lifelong participation – helping players, coaches, referees, and volunteers continue to stay involved with lacrosse at any level, creating a strong, continuous community.
